Usually, prostate cancer begins in the gland cells, known as adenocarcinoma. Prostate cancer is a slowly progressive disease. It is a common disease among old agers; killing a man in every hour. There are often no early prostate cancer symptoms, and so often, men die without knowing that they had prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is the most common cause of death of men above seventy-five years of age. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct regular checkups.

Treatment
There is no easy or obvious diagnosis of prostate cancer. A doctor may have to investigate many things before administering treatment for prostate cancer. It includes the Gleason score and overall health checkup of the patient. A urologist often discusses treatment options with patients before selecting a particular prostate treatment option. If cancer has not spread out of the prostate gland, the general treatment options include surgery and radiation therapy. Radiation therapy also includes brachytherapy and proton therapy.
If a patient is older, the doctor may only monitor the patient with PSA tests and biopsies.
If cancer has spread outside of the gland, its treatment may include hormone therapy. If cancer spreads even after hormone therapy, the urologist may adopt surgery or radiation therapy for treating prostate cancer, which includes; chemotherapy and immunotherapy. After treatment, patients are to be monitored regularly for any regermination.
